Electronic Manufacturing Business ForSale

Engineering - Manufacturing - Electronic Assembly - Surface Mount Assembly

The business was incorporated in 1984 doing contract engineering for companies in the USA, mainly on the east coast. In 1999 it started manufacturing PC industrial computer peripherals based on 5 of the owners 19 electronic and mechanical patents. Naming of the company is not being done presently because the company is still operating and is only being offered for sale only because the owner wants to retire, and the manufacturing will not stop until a new owner is found. The owner would stay on for time needed to train new employees in the operation and assembly processes if needed. This company manufactures and sells industrial peripherals products worldwide. This company is a manufacturer not a distributor, these peripheral products are NOT brought in and marked up 10-15% and sold, being very vertically integrated and bringing in components at the base level profit is maximized.

Revenue's - 1984 - 2003 one man engineering firm $150K-$220K per year. Two employee manufacturer 2005 - $166K, 2006 - $266K, 2007 - $663K $295GP. With proper funding and a strong marketing person by 2010 it would be $5 Million with only the 5 patents, what do you need to get there - a nationwide sales network, do you have that expertise? All of the shown revenues are from internet sales, with no other sales force, nice business for two people but it is leaving a lot of money on the table.
Area labor force - Although the present owner wishes to remain at 2 employee's, the company is located in an area that would facilitate many employee's. The company owns and is located on 2 acres 40 minutes South of Norfolk in a corridor that 30,000 workers drive to service Norfolk's many Navel installations and businesses around Norfolk, any of which would give up salary not have to drive the extra 40 miles. The area is also beautiful and is only 45 minutes from the Ocean to the North and 70 minutes from Nags Head to the South.
Value Added Patents - The patents were previously assessed by the Center for Innovated Technology of Virginia and the assessment was they have the potential to make a Billion dollar company. This foresight and new leadership with a strong marketing direction, and the means to exploit all patents in the industrial, medical, government, military, consumer, and handicap markets, would make this potential a reality.

The company also has equipment that if fully utilized can add revenues from the following profit centers:

1. A manufacturer of current industrial computer peripherals (2007 $663,464 income).

2. A contract product engineering company (two persons could equal $500,000 income).

3. A contract manufacturer of electronic and mechanical products (equipment for 13 employee's).

4. A contract assembler of electronic and mechanical products (equipment for 4 employee's - $300,000 income).

5. A contract surface mount RoHS assembly house (equipment for 4 employee's). One employee presently runs the surface mount (SMD) line one day a week and makes 150 boards. These boards from an outside SMD house were costing us $16 each (pure labor), so if you run the line four more days a week times $16 times 52 weeks equals another $500,000 per year income. There are companies begging for assembly to be done, even running boards on Sunday for double time.

6. A complete machine shop, sheet metal shop, model shop, tool and die shop, welding shop, and paint shop (equipment for 5 employee's). With only three employees in this shop charging $80/hr minus wages nets $60 times hours per year 2,080 equals another $400,000 per year income.

****** With current equipment and staffed to match, 2008 income could be $2,225,000******

Ergonomic Dual Screen Split Keyboard Notebook Computer

There are about 4 million notebooks sold each year, if you get 2.5% of that market that is 100,000. If you sell the notebook for $1,000, that's $100,000,000/year. This product could easily get 10%-20% of that market with a selling price of $2,000.

Employee's Needed to Operater Business - The current owner has 48 years experience and holds all the US Patents, and operates the business with himself and one assembler. The owner does the business, marketing, sales, accounting, assemly level programming of the products using PIC micro's, electronic engineering and design, mechanical engineering and design, printed circuit board design, graphic's design, operates all of the machine shop (designed and made all of the prototypes on prototype.html page), programs all the surface mount assembly machines, and establishes all operating processes. The only things that are let besides electronic components are production sheet metal parts over 10 in quantity, the actual bare PCB's, and molding.

For a company to resume normal manufacturing of the current products they would need employee's with these disciplines.
